Hey,
I know that this is way late, but today I will review the movie 17 Again. 17 again is a movie about a Dad who is getting divorced. He is kicked out of the house. By magic he becomes 17 again and has to “redo” his senior year. The movie follows him helping his kids and fixing the mistakes he made back in his senior year. In the end, he helps his kids and rebuilds his marriage.
The movie it self was okay. Maybe a 6 ot 6.5. It had a predictable story line, but not that predictable. It had a good moral, but again it was pretty predictable. One of the things that irked me the most was the fact that it was marketed as a kid’s movie, but in reality it was a movie for teens and tweens. When I viewed the movie, there were a lot of kids that were 6 or 7 in the theater. One of the reasons is that the commercials for the movie were shown on childrens channels, as well as the parts of the movie shown in the commercials funny to kids. But the movie it self had a lot of things in it that most kids wouldn’t understand. Such as divorce, sex, and life choices that don’t make sense to a kid. Also there was a scene in the movie that made a reference to condoms and abstinence that I heard a lot of kids asking parents about coming out of the theater.
Another thing that I didn’t like about the movie was the fact that it showed High School in a very stereotypical way. Many of the realities of high school were blown out of porportion in a way that made high school look a lot “worse” than it really is. On the way out of the theater, I heard an 8 year old as there mom if they were going to be duck taped to a toliet the second they walked in to high school.
The consensus for this movie is that, it is a teen movie. There is a reason that it PG-13. Don’t take your kid to it. For adults, it is not very good. Don’t go expecting to much meaning or depth. Again, TEEN MOVIE. If you know that going in, then you will be fine.
