17 Again

Hey,

I know that this is way late, but today I will review the movie 17 Again. 17 again is a movie about a Dad who is getting divorced. He is kicked out of the house. By magic he becomes 17 again and has to “redo” his senior year. The movie follows him helping his kids and fixing the mistakes he made back in his senior year. In the end, he helps his kids and rebuilds his marriage.

The movie it self was okay. Maybe a 6 ot 6.5. It had a predictable story line, but not that predictable. It had a good moral, but again it was pretty predictable. One of the things that irked me the most was the fact that it was marketed as a kid’s movie, but in reality it was a movie for teens and tweens. When I viewed the movie, there were a lot of kids that were 6 or 7 in the theater. One of the reasons is that the commercials for the movie were shown on childrens channels, as well as the parts of the movie shown in the commercials funny to kids. But the movie it self had a lot of things in it that most kids wouldn’t understand. Such as divorce, sex, and life choices that don’t make sense to a kid. Also there was a scene in the movie that made a reference to condoms and abstinence that I heard a lot of kids asking parents about coming out of the theater.

Another thing that I didn’t like about the movie was the fact that it showed High School in a very stereotypical way. Many of the realities of high school were blown out of porportion in a way that made high school look a lot “worse” than it really is. On the way out of the theater, I heard an 8 year old as there mom if they were going to be duck taped to a toliet the second they walked in to high school.

The consensus for this movie is that, it is a teen movie. There is a reason that it PG-13. Don’t take your kid to it. For adults, it is not very good. Don’t go expecting to much meaning or depth. Again, TEEN MOVIE. If you know that going in, then you will be fine.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Hey,

I am so sorry that I haven’t written in awhile. I have been so busy!!!! Today I am finally going to review a movie! Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. This movie is about a man who is very obsessed with girls on a physical level. He is such a jerk!!! He dumps girls, by video conference when his new girl is in the room. This movie is inspired by the book A Christmas Carol. He is visited by several ghosts whick show him what a monster that he had become. The ghosts also showed him the girl he was always meant to be with.

There is only one word that I can use to describe this movie with: STUPID. It was terrible!!! I hated it. It was not worth the money at all!!! The movie was unoriginal, the humor was either not funny or to sick to laugh at, and above all: THE ENDING WAS SO PREDICTABLE THAT I ALMOST CRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!! First, the movie was a modern interpretation of A Christmas Carol except with sex in it!! During the movie, there were only a few chuckles here and there. That tells you something about a movie that is markeded as “funny”. Also, the ending was a happy ending that was so predictable. The guy gets the girl, the guy’s wedding works out, and no one is mad at the main character anymore. COME O!!!! CAN YOU BE ANYMORE OBVIOUS?

I think you get the picture.

The Listener

Hey,

Last night NBC kicked off its second new show of its summer season, The Listener. They aired back to back episodes. I really loved the show! The show is about an Emergency Medical Technican who can hear peoplese thoughts. He uses his talents for helping people do things such as, find thier kidnapped children, or solve the mystery of a string of set fires. The jobs that he does are usually the police’s job so that creates some tension. Also he must keep his talent a secret, so he often has to come up with excuses why he sometimes replies so someones thoughts.

I really am looking forward to watching this show. It has good plot, and it has that something special to keep viewers coming back. The two episodes that they aired last night were both very enjoyable. One of the things that I really like about it was the fact that the two episodes were tied together with the situation of his girlfriend, but other wise they could be watched completly independently. When I saw the commercial, I thought for sure that it would be one of those shows that if you missed an episode then you are completly confused next time.

Some of the things that I didn’t like about it was that some parts were a little creepy, but in some cases that made it all that much better. All in all it is a great show so far and I recommend it to anyone.

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!!

Hey,

Sorry I haven’t written in awhile! I just haven’t found any new material to write about! But do not fear, I am back. This Monday, a brand new show came to NBC. This new show is called, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. This show which we will call IACGMOOH, is a show that claims to put different celebrities in the jungle of Costa Rica, and have America decide their fate. The commercials make it look like we have a lot more control than we really do. The show is unusual because is airs 4 days a week for one hour. Monday thru Thursday. The show basically is split into a team of women and a team of men who compete head to head in in challenges that the prize is food. Real food that is actually good. That is where America comes in. America gets to vote on which women and which men have to compete in that evenings challenge. Most of the challenges are fear factor type things or athletic challenges. Like crawling though mud to get things, or being traped in a slowly filling up box of water with creatures trying to unlock your self.

I really like the show, but it seems to have couple of flaws. First of all, it looks like whenever the hosts are talking it looks like they are in Costa Rica and when it shows the celebrities camp it looks like Costa Rica. But when the hosts enter the camp to tell the celebrities something, it looks like a fake jungle. Also, the celebrities camp is in a clearing where they just have mosquito candles and cots. There is any apparent tree cover. What I am wondering is if they are in a rain forest, what happens when it rains? They all have pillows on their beds, and some sort of sheets. I mean doesn’t it rain in the rain forest?

All in all, IACGMOOH is a good show. It keeps you engaged, and has a new episode every night from Monday to Thursday. What more can you want. Although, they could have probable come up with more well known celebrities IACGMOOH is a show worth watching.

SouthLand

Hey,

Have you seen Southland? Have you even heard of Southland? If you haven’t then you obviously have been living under a rock. Southland is a show that follows a number of cops during their work and personal lives. The show was the one that replaced ER on Thursday nights.

One of the best things about Southland is that they show you, not tell you the storie. There is almost no narration. The first episode you are thown into the fray. You don’t get a breifing on who everyone is. The style of filming is just like ER meaning it seemlessly switches between characters and ties their cases together in one fell swoop. Every episode you learn more about the characters present and past. You dive deeper into their lives and you feel like you know them. When the hour is up, you feel like you know them even better than you knew them before. In the weeks that this show has aired, it doesn’t feel like long but it has been a whole season. The season finale is tomrrow night. What is so great about the show is if an episode doesn’t show a certain character then you miss them. You wonder what they are doing. Every time it changes setting, you wonder if it will show that particualar character.

Some bad things about the show are that because the show is so complicated, it is some times hard to find out what is going on. Sometimes I miss the first 5 minutes of an episode and I have no idea what is going on. Those are the only things that are bad. I just can’t find anything else.

Southland is on at 9/10 on Thursdays on NBC.

30 Rock

Hey,

Today I will be discussing 30 Rock. 30 Rock is a show is written by Tina Fey. The show follows a bunch of weird characters who work in the Rockefellar building in New York. Many of the characters are strange people who do strange things.

Some really good things about the show are that the story line is more devoloped than many comedy shows. All of the characters are very unique. Also their interactions are very unique. Especially the characters Liz Lemon and the character played by Alec Baldwin.

Some things about the show that could be improved are the jokes. Some of the jokes in the show are hilariously funny, but some of the crude humor is not funny at all. The story line just needs depth. Maybe the show could be lengthened to an hour long time slot. That would help a lot with that. Also, Liz Lemon needs a boyfriend!

The Office

Hey people,

One of my favorite shows of all time is definetly The Office. If you don’t know what The Office is then you have been living under a rock. The Office is a comedy show that follows a group of people who work for a Dunder-Mifflin paper company. The show is filmed like a film crew is following the characters. When the characters are running, the camera shakes as they follow them. Also, some shots are taken from behind bushes. The show takes place in Scranton.

Some really great things about this show is that most of the jokes are funny but not innappropriate. Also many of the jokes and story lines have to do with relationship tensions going on, but not all of the show is that way. In fact most of the show lately has been following the creation of a new paper company in the office next door. The 5th season finale aired on Thursday.

Some of my favorite characters are Pam, Jim, and Dwight. I really like Pam because she is so sarcastic it is funny. The same with Jim. In the show, Jim and Pam have been dating for ever and it is a big bet when they will get married. This season ended with a cliff hanger that made me think that Pam was pregnent. I also love Dwight because he is one of the funniest characters on the show. He is kind of a show off, but he says some of the funniest stuff with a straight face.

A great thing about the show is that there is no laugh track. I hate it when practically every thing that someone says on a show is followed by some canned audience response. I hate that! I think that the show needs to work on moving the story more forward. But, I love all of the jokes.

I absolutly love The Office. I am so glad that it is coming back for anthoer season. Also, I love the theme song!

Finally, I would like to give a shout out to Best Buddies! Best Buddies is a non profit organizanation that works to help the intellectually impaired become more a part of society.  Check out the link below:

Parks and Recreation

Hey,

Todays topic is Parks and Recreation. P and R is a show that is very similar to the office in the way that it is filmed, and edited. P and R  follows characters that work in the local P and R department. In the first episode, the main character Leslie Knope is informed of a large pit that is dangerous. For the rest of the first season, Leslie Knope and her team try to get the pit turned into a park. The first season ended in a cliff hanger.

I really like this show, but I wish that the humor was more like the office. Most of the humor in P and R is about sex, or people being drunk. Also, the first season was very short. I hope that the show will come back soon. I miss it already. Another thing that could be done, is that the episodes don’t seem to carry the story very far. Amy Poehler must have no shame to do some of the things that she does on the show. It is so hilarious when Leslie is drunk! I think that is hilarious. Another character that I love is the girl friend of the guy who fell in the pit and broke both of his legs.

This show is slightly controversial, because some people who are involved in local government think that it is poking fun at their jobs. What I think that everyone needs to understand is that it is just trying to be funny. The point is to be funny not offend anyone. And most of the jokes are about Leslie being a weirdo and drunk people, not about actually government.

I wish that the emphasis was not as much on dating, as the story line or jokes that are actually funny. All in all Parks and Recreation is great show, that just needs some work.

Make Me a Supermodel

Hey,

Another show that I would like to talk about is Make Me a Supermodel. MMAS is a show that follows a similar format as ANTM. In the show, the contestants have to do a photo shoot, and a runway. Which ever contestant wins the photo shoot gets a go see. That means they get to interview for a potential modeling job. Each episode someone is eliminated.

I think this show is just a wannabe ANTM. It is Bravo’s ANTM! One of the only major differences, is that it is a mixture of boys and girls. Also they do a lot more partner shoots. This show is less fixated on the drama and more on the work aspect, who gets jobs, and who the jobs are with. Also the show is more focused on eliminating people who don’t know what they are doing, and less on teaching you. There is more coaching on walking in this show though.

MMAS could be drastically improved if they just made the show more interesting. The challenges don’t seem to captivate me. I like the show but, it needs some work. I think that ANTM is much better, and MMAS couldn’t out right copy it. This show has potential. I am curious what it’s number viewers is. I think that it is only in it’s second season, so there is room to improve.

Americas Next Top Model

Hey,

The next show I would like to feature is Americas Next Top Model! ANTM is a compatition that the prize is a lot of money, and a job as a model. On the show different want to be models compete in a variety of challenges. Each week, the competator who does the worst is eliminated from the compatition. The show is hosted and created by Tyra Banks, a super model. In each show there are usually challenges that are photo shoots, and there are challenges that are about the business part of being a model. The show is sponsored by Cover Girl Cosmetics so a lot of the business challenges are centered around that company.

One of the worst parts of the show is the fact that the contestants are living in the same apartment. This is convienent for giving out challenges, but it also creates drama. The show foucuses on fights and drama. I think that gives the show that extra edge. But I wish that some times they would focus more on the show. I love the clothes on the show! They are great!

Some good things about the show are that the challenges are interesting and fun to watch. I always watch ANTM when it is on because you never know what is going to happen. That is the best part.

All in all ANTM is a great show that just needs to cut the drama! Seriously! This season, my favorite contestent is Allison. I noticed right from the begining that she would be a contender. I thought it was very rude of 0f the other judges to make fun of her looks in front of her. I would like to give a shout out to New Orleans for giving us such an awsome model! The blog, Fans of New Orleans just did a feature on Allison. Go check it out!
